The first four years of Recomposition, up through May of 2008, involved building this collection. It started off rather casual, but became more serious in time. The very initial collecting of the foods resulted from a general aloofness toward the state of my refrigerator, but soon developed into a curiosity: What will grow next? Why are these milks aging differently? Hummus... really? In time, I grew attached to certain items of interest; recomposition is the resulting project. Though it seems to carry with it a touch of absurdity, this is an earnest representation of a set of objects I find interest in, particularly when collected as a set.
